Moving Forward

Well I have put the "D" quilt away for now and have decided to work on the five year scarf? I am determined to finish the scarf and am looking forward to wearing it next winter. Here is the pattern in case anyone would like to give it a try. It is not hard you just need to pay attention.
So on August 4, 2011 I will be flying to Greece for 9 days. I am very excited and am a little nervous I have never traveled to Europe. I have the Frommer's Athens book and am planning how to spend the 4 days in Athens. I have been told that it is a 9 hour flight so am a little nervous. Any travel tips or pointers would be great.

Sunshine and Flowers!

Well we are so happy in southwestern Ontario to finally see the sun!! I thought I would post another flower that I have created for the "D" quilt. I was also able to find some awesome fabrics today that will also get made into flowers. Maybe I will have to schedule a quilting bee to get this project moving along a little quicker.

April Showers and All That

I have jumped into a new project. My mother is a quilter and has shared her love of crafts and busy hands with me. I love the feel of fabric and have decided to work on a "D" quilt. The quilt top will be completely sewn by hand - a huge undertaking and will be created by 3o flowers. My goal was 3 flowers a week but that may have been a little to ambitious. I have been enjoying trips to a variety of fabric stores to sift through remnants and deciding on colour combinations. These are a of pics of the flowers I have been working on.

Knitter's Frolic

Today has been a great day. A trip to Toronta with a group of great friends to the Knitting Frolic, lunch at The Tea House on the patio, shopping at a giant yarn store and ice cream for dinner. The perfect day!
I bought a new pattern and yarn at the frolic that will grow up and be a scarf!

Sock Saks

I have been goggling over some wonderful knitting bags and was determined to whip some up. This is one that I love and think that it will be perfect for knitting socks. I love the pocket that can hold bits and bobs. I chose two green prints that are so pretty - the fabric was from Fabric Land called Bijou Garden.
Here is a picture...enjoy.

Spring Green Baby Blanket

So this weekend I decided to change it up a bit and try something new - a baby blanket. The pattern is one that I found online and can be found here http://majorknitter.typepad.com/photos/patterns/oh_so_soft_baby_blanket.html
Here is a pic of the project so far!!

Spring - In Like a Lamb

So I decided to try to knit a toy - after seeing on that a friend had received for her wee boy. This is my first attempt - Fuzzy Mitten Lamb.

French Press Felted Slippers

Okay I have to tell you I was a wee bit worried about making these slippers, but they were awesome and the pattern is easy peasy to follow! They are quick, and felt up amazingly!! My overall review is that they are wonderful. Here is a few photos but I will post once they are dried and the strap and button are sewn on.

Let the Games Begin

So two fellow knitters have challenged themselves to 12 Elizabeth Zimmerman projects – and I think that I may join them!! This will be a huge challenge for me because I seem to have fallen into the “can not finish a project” category which is becoming a pain in the butt. I am narrowing down my projects and have ordered some books from our library but so far my ideas are:

1. Mitred Mittens
2. February Baby Sweater
3. Norway Mittens – you can never have to many mittens
4. April – Mystery Blanket
5. Moccasin Socks

So this is just the first working list that I have created – I do want to add a sweater but will wait to see the other patterns. N and Kat I think that you may have inspired another knitter as well but I will wait until she blogs before I let the cat out of the bag. Maybe we will have to have EZ knitting knights – any reason to visit and knit are great! Let the games begin!
Happy knitting,
Shelaine
